Terrapin Creek Grant Announcement

December 3, 2010 by
Filed under Chamber News, Communities, Recreation

The Alabama Scenic River Trail adopted the section of the Terrapin from Oaklevel to Weiss Lake. And applied for a grant thru ADECA to improve access points along its path. The first one has been completed at Stewart bridge in Cherokee County. There will be 5 more installed including 3 in Cleburne County. I know one will be at County Road 49 in Oaklevel and one on the creek road near Chief Liadga Lodge. These acces points will give easier access to the creek and keep down erosion form heavy use. There are about 6500 users of this section each summer. The Cleburne County Chamber is proud to support the ASRT and their efforts to promote tourism to our area.
