Turkey Heaven VFD will be hosting a community Awareness Day on September 10th from 10am till 2pm. On that day we will have a number of activities going on throughout the day including; Singing (Ryan Robertson & Family- Tri-City Quartet), Cleburne EMA and the Emergency Alert Distribution Group will be giving out EARs for the ones who needs them or have problems with a current one, Pictures with Smokey the Bear & Fire Fighter, Mob…ile Education Unit, Face Painting, Water activities, Moon Bounce, Horseshoes, door prizes given out every hour, and a lot more!! During the event we will have a special awards presentation and we will also have a Live Vehicle Extrication!!!!!!! The theme of the accident is “Dont Text & Drive”, we hope to reach out to teens and adults the importance of not texting and driving. Hamburgers and Hotdogs will be served throughout the day for only $0.50 an item, What A Deal!! Find below a schedule of events:
10-12- Ryan Robertson & Family / Tri-City Quartet Singing (Taking turns)
11:30- Smokey the Bear with Firefighter Pictures- (Photos will be printed day of)
12:00- Special Presentation from Chief Nolen on the issues withing THVFD and special awards
12:30- Guest Speaker on the Volunteer Firefighters of Alabama
1:00- Live Extrication with a Moderator Talking
(Due to unknown length of time the Extrication will take, We want to announce that Tri-City Quartet will finish the afternoon off with a few songs)
Around 2:00 or a little after the Event will End.
We are also accepting sponsors for this event. Please feel free to contact Chief Patrick Nolen at 256-591-7800 to be a sponsor.
We also need door prizes.

Your public lands need you! Please come help us on Saturday, September 24th, to make the Talladega National Forest a better place.
For public lands day, the U.S. Forest Service will be hosting volunteers to complete a number of very cool projects at our beautiful recreation sites on the Shoal Creek Ranger District.
We will meet at 9:00 at the Shoal Creek Office for a safety briefing and to be assigned to our work location. We will be working at Coleman Lake Recreation Area, Warden Station Horse Camp, and Pine Glen Campground. Tools and safety gear will be provided by a work crew leader with the Forest Service.
Please bring work gloves and drinking water. A t-shirt and lunch will be provided to all who
participate at our Public Lands Day celebration!
Where: Shoal Creek Ranger District Office in Heflin, Alabama

Renew Our Rivers in Cleburne County will be August 13th 12:00 pm. Meet at Tallapoosa River Outfitters on Highway 46. There will be a cookout after with music by John Howle. Canoes are free as long as they last.
